Stone Temple Pilots Reportedly Set to Announce New Singer

Nearly a year after former frontman Scott Weiland‘s death, Stone Temple Pilots may have ended their search for a new lead singer.

Entertainment Tonight reports that band members Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz have selected former X Factor finalist Jeffrey Adam Gutt to take over vocal duties. According to the show’s sources, the new STP lineup has been writing and recording for several months, and current plans call for them to tour in 2017 with a set list that includes “classic STP hits along with new songs.”

Reports of Gutt’s arrival come after months of rumors regarding the band’s future. Their previous singer, Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, left the lineup in 2015, and in recent weeks, it was suggested that singer John Borja had gotten the gig, although an official announcement never came — and if Entertainment Tonight‘s sources are correct, now we know why.

Gutt, who competed on The X Factor in 2013, would beat out a list of contenders that included anyone who submitted vocals through the open audition the band held through its website earlier this year. Guitarist Dean DeLeo explained the process to Rolling Stone, saying they put out the call for submissions because they believed they’d be doing themselves a “disservice if we didn’t allow all the talent that is out there to become a part of this.” While insisting they weren’t going to pick a singer just for the sake of having one, he expressed optimism that they’d find a way to move forward.

“What we’re looking for is a pretty tall order, man. We’ve had the fortune of playing with some of the greatest and most talented singers out there,” DeLeo argued. “Robert, Eric and I know what we want, and, like I said earlier, when that person walks into a room, we’ll know.”

Top 5 Emerging Artists from LA

LA is probably the most famous hotspot for big and small talents. Young artists with big dreams keep constantly moving there in search for a producer or the “Big Guy” to discover their talent and live their Cinderella story. While it is an option for some starting artists, there are many who don’t just sit and wait for their musical prince to realize their dream.

The internet has crushed the music industry: with platforms such as Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Datpiff and many more, it has given the opportunity to the rising artists to shine and share their music without a major record company.

1. AD

The rapper from Compton known to the public as AD has been actively releasing new music and gaining audience. Playing the Compton card, AD has released songs named “Welcome to ComptonFornia” and “ComptonFornia 2”. However, that is not the only thing you should remember him for, his single “Juice” is getting a lot of press and attention.

Cash Lopez: From Hard Beginnings to Rising Stardom

Things for Cash Hendrik Lopez were never easy–even as a child. Growing up with bouts of homelessness and a shaky household, he was exposed to alcoholism, drug use, and abandonment, and was never certain of what his future would look like.

However, these trials and tribulations, however tough and sobering, awakened a passion in him. That passion was music. While just beginning elementary school, Lopez had already begun writing full length songs, with influences ranging from classic rock to oldies rhythm and blues. In July of 2013, his passion and dedication resulted in the release of his second mixtape, titled ‘Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll’, which received impressive distribution nationwide.

Lopez has been performing since his early 20’s, in Utah, Arizona, Idaho, California, Nevada, and more. In January of 2012, he was featured as the Artist of the Month by Salt Lake City’s No. 1 Hip Hop Station, U92. He has also opened for major label artists such as Yukmouth, Glasses Malone, Warren G, Christina Millian, and more. He has also been featured in collaborative work in all types and genres of music–including hip hop, techno, dance, and so on.

Lopez’s music has a unique and distinct sound to it, and he is able to get crowds up, energized, and moving with his contagious party vibe. Despite having to put his career as a hip hop artist on hold as a result of a now-resolved health issue in his family, Lopez has released his incredible promotional video ‘Rizin’, which has already been featured on WorldStar Hip-Hop and Vladtv! He has since released a trailer teaser for his upcoming release of ‘RFC’ to be shown in full on December 3rd, which you can check out right here.

Cash Lopez’s impressive defiance to anything trying to hold him back, coupled with his unique sound and rising popularity, go to show everything is possible when you have a calling, and we cannot wait to hear more from this versatile hip hop sensation!

Kay Kumar’s SVDS Video Set to Premiere On December 3

When Kay Kumar told us to ‘get excited’ for his video launch for his single ‘SVDS’ on December 3rd, we did not know what to expect.

Behind-the-scenes sneak peaks have enabled us to see that this is no ordinary video shot in his hometown of Birmingham, UK. After the release of his single ‘Suicidal Thoughts’, we knew this young rapper had a way with words, and could use his music to spread the word and raise awareness about important and difficult topics, while still having a hopeful message. When the official launch date for his premiere video was announced, the anticipation began.

Infused with incredibly breath-taking scenes, you would think Kumar traveled to paradise just for this music video. Well, close enough. Kumar, Zak Le Ninja and the SVDS production gang set up base all over Morocco–including Rabat, Kenitra, and the Sahara Desert.

The result will be revealed to us in its entirety on December 3. It promises to captivate viewers with the incredible scenery and beauty of the Moroccan landscape, coupled with Kumar’s poetic lyrics and unforgettable melodies.

With the impressive work of Kay Kumar in the past, we are looking forward to all that comes from this talented rapper!

Shae Brock Image 2

Girls will always be girls, right? Every time I watch Shae Brock’s music video “If I Ever,” that’s all I can think about: my girls, my youth, my summer parties, fun, carelessness, and loving life. That is the secret to the success of this track and music video; nostalgia, well, for those that have more or less left those days of innocent fun behind. For those of you that are still enjoying these pleasures, this is the perfect song to bask in. Oh and let’s not forget those that wish they were there with Shae, dancing around with balloons, enjoying their freedom; I am speaking about the younger generation, of course. To put everything in a simpler term, Shae caters to an audience of a large age range. Yes, that’s how you pull in success. Live and love life with Shae Brock’s “If I Ever” music video. I know this is not Hiphop but this is FIRST CLASS.

A New Hit on Fire: Pack Flip from A-Slim

A-Slim Pack FlipI’ve got a new beat you’ll want to hear. In fact, you’ll want to download it, put it on repeat, add it to your party playlist. Trust me, it’s THAT addictive.

The new “Pack Flip” release is from A-Slim, a young up and coming artist hoping to get the entire hip hop industry on a plate. I hope you’re not hungry anymore, cause this guy will get it all soon.

It’s actually a very new release, hitting the video engine last week. We’re one of the first to get this new trend out, so hopefully you’ll catch on and spread it around. I’ve heard a few people here say it’s not a party song, but I’d argue with that majorly. This IS the party song that comes up a little late, when the crowd is all relaxed and chilled, they just need the right beat, and you … you SERVE it to them. And they … they’re gonna LOVE it!

The quality is pretty good, the guy is serious about his art, and the style is not one of those cliched rap clips you see on YouTube every week. With the right spark, A-Slim can go all on fire!

I’m gonna leave the rest up to your fair judgement. Watch the video, share the artwork, and let us know what you think!

A “Fresh” Thursday to You from Terry Lane

Terry Lane #ThirstyThursdays

In the century of 2 Chainz rapping about what he sees (literally) and Taylor Swift getting a billion views on every song it’s actually good to see something different. Terry Lane’s “Fresh” is actually fresh! It’s been a long time since I last heard a really pleasant song that u can’t get out of your head. In this context, Terry delivers the best for the super-saturated market of R&B-music where it’s really hard to do something new. I’m feeling thirsty for next Thursday to see another music video of him.

Terry Lane is a rising R&B star hailing from Atlanta. He discovered his love of music at an early age and recently released his debut album, “Addiction”. His new hit “Let Me Get It”, in particular, was a sensation, gathering over a million views on YouTube. Now he is releasing #ThirstyThursday videos every week and on August 20th he released his most recent music video, “Fresh”.
